Mike Chiasson – Board Chair
Dr. Mike Chiasson is a Professor in the Faculty of Management, at the University of British Columbia. Mike grew up in Edmonton where he obtained his first degree in Commerce, and then lived and worked in Vancouver where he received his PhD from the Faculty of Commerce (now the Sauder School of Business). After finishing a post-doctoral in health, he worked at the University of Calgary and in the UK at Lancaster University, before arriving in Kelowna in 2014.
During his career, he has worked with various people in organizations both in the UK and Canada to alter their organizational practices through the use of advanced information technology. Increasingly, his work has turned towards social and political philosophy, and people’s participation in design.
In that time, he has chaired faculty departments, undergraduate and master programs, and PhD graduate programs, including graduates focused on technology and the digital economy. Mike has been a member of the congregation and the board of the church since arriving in 2014.
Mike and his wife Frances are continuing to raise two children, both born in the UK, developing proper Northwest English accents before coming to Canada, and their dog Tux who speaks a special language through his eyes and ears.
